Top rides in circular glass lifts made by GBH Design GmbH

Technical masterpieces and aesthetic eye-catchers – both can be ascribed to our circular glass lifts that are installed in private homes, listed buildings as well as office buildings. Due to their location in fully glazed or filigree designed open shaft structures they offer unimpeded panoramic view.

Radial car- and shaft doors with underlying or overlying door mechanisms have been developed by our technical engineers especially for low shaft pits. Generally, all our lift systems are produced with rope drive or hydraulic drive, depending on the structural conditions.

Private Residence, Cote d´ Vermeille

For a private villa in a fantastic setting at the Côte d’Azur, GBH Design built a circular fully glazed lift with non-visible double pistons, running over five levels.

The surfaces of the shaft structure and of the door frames have a finish of polished stainless steel, shaft and cabin are fully glazed. The elevator, equipped with the glazed shaft and cabin doors with the hidden under-floor door drive developed by GBH Design, moves easily and elegantly up and down in the famous building. The custom-made staircase follows the course of the circular lift, thus forming a harmonious unit

Watches of Switzerland, London

The London and New York architect’s offices Callison have partnered with Watches of Switzerland to create a spectacular timepiece emporium, synonymous with the finest in luxury, customer experience and retail theatre.
The three-storey flagship store Landmark is located on London’s famed Regent Street and offers the largest selection of watches in Europe including luxury brands such as Rolex, Patek Philippe and Jaeger-LeCoultre.

The store is designed as a multi-tiered retail experience, three stores in one.
Our bespoke glass lift has been attuned to the interior of the store. All stainless steel elements of the lift shaft and the lift car are  champagne-coloured.
In order to preserve the transparency of the hydraulic lift with a rated load of 1125 kg we only used leading edge technology and top quality.

Forum Mittelrhein, Koblenz

The new Cultural Centre „Forum Mittelrhein“ in Koblenz was opened in June 2013.

The renowned architectural office Benthem Crouwel designed a spectacular residence for the Municipal Library, the Mittelrhein Museum and the Tourist Information.

The lobby, spaciously laid out by the architects, is the building’s central area that does not only have a functional meaning but catches anybody’s eye due to its spectacular design. The panoramic glass lift in the lobby, designed and constructed by GBH, has been attuned to the overall concept.

It transports visitors nonstop to the accessible roof terrace. The filigree, white lacquered shaft construction is perfectly integrated into the completely white interior of the building.

Vehicle Museum / Private Museum Gerhard Porsche in St. Salvator, Carinthia (Austria)

In the Austrian village St. Salvator a new vehicle museum was founded in 2015/2016, which shows a mixture of agricultural machinery, vintage cars, motorcycles and modern roadsters – all exhibits originate from the private collection of Gerhard Porsche.

GBH Design was commissioned to design, build and install a circular glass lift which allows access to the exhibits, distributed on three levels, in an elegant manner. The surfaces finished with polished stainless steel fit harmoniously in the clear, light design of the museum. Once again, the circular glazed shaft and cabin doors developed by GBH Design have been implemented in the overall concept.

VR meine Raiffeisenbank eG

In the course of renovation works in the branch office of the Raiffeisenbank in Burghausen a glass lift from ground floor to top floor was to be installed.

The main idea was to have a circular lift with filigree appearance in the lobby and service area, which would consume as little space as possible. Due to the existence of office rooms beneath ground floor level, our designers decided – in order to avoid excessive load on the floor of the ground floor – to transfer the load of the framework and lift system with the help of tie rods to the roof of the building.

Moreover, this concept did not require to structurally alter the rooms in the basement due to a reduced shaft depth of only 400 mm. Thanks to our radial shaft- and car doors we succeeded once more to conceive and install a custom-made, unique lift system.

Central Railway Station, Berlin

The new central railway station – the biggest interchange station in Europe – is the most spectacular architectural project in Berlin.

We were charged with the entire planning, structural analysis, and delivery of the shaft construction including all glazing, as well as the manufacture of 6 circular panoramic glass lifts.

For the curved shaft doors and car doors with under-floor drive a special protection against vandalism has been developed and manufactured – it has been awarded the Deutsche-Bahn-Certificate.

The lifts are used by more than one hundred thousand people each day. The entire glazing of the lift is made of top quality clear glass.

The prestigious company building had been designed by the architects post & partner. The GBH Design elevators blend harmonically in the rounded shapes of the interior of the building. The under-floor door drive developed by GBH, in combination with the glazed door leaves, creates the impression of lightness and transparency.

Residences Schloss Hotel Velden

The get-togethers of the arts, society, politics, nobility, wealth and beauty in Schlosshotel Velden have already established as a tradition.

In one of the apartments adjacent to the hotel park we installed a circular glass lift that elevates up to six people from their residential area to the roof terrace. Having reached the sun deck level you can cross a bridge that brings you to the terrace, wherefrom you have a spectacular view over the picturesque Wörthersee. We furnished the lift with a lot of glass and mirror-polished stainless steel which reminds of the optical appearance of a luxury yacht.

Since the lift has been retrofitted, our technicians were technically challenged with a shaft depth of only 350 mm and headroom of only 2500 mm. This is why we had to develop, exclusively for this building project, our new radial lift door with reduced under-floor door mechanism.
